Diving in Playa Del Carmen

Playa del Carmen is ideal for all divers, beginners and experienced divers. Most dives around Playa are drift dives, but no worry about getting lost, you will always have a guide with you! (Mexican law)

All around the year, you can dive in the famous “Tortuga’s Reef”, Turtle Reef, to observe Hawksbill Turtle, you just have to let you go with the current through the garden reef. A part from the turtles you can as well see huge schools of tarpons, barracudas and if you are really lucky bull sharks and sailfishes.

Between December to March, the sea is getting a little bit colder, so bull sharks are coming to the shallower waters of Playa! Try the Bull Shark dive experience, No cage, No food necessary, just a good briefing and good behavior from the divers are needed. It is a life time experience to be just few meters from this perfect creature.

If you decide to visit Playa del Carmen, you must dive in to the Cenotes. Cenotes are part of an underground river system of fresh water located inside the jungle. Nowhere else in the world you can have the opportunity to dive trough a cavern, with such crystalline water, between stalagmites and stalactites.

Maya's civilization considers cenotes sacred. It is unique dives in the world where you can dive with your Open Water Certification or equivalent and no calustrophobia ! During summer, in the North of Peninsula, the biggest fish on the planet is migrating in the Caribbean: Whale Sharks. Come snorkeling with this harmless giant, and observe them eating plankton.

If you are lucky you might see mantas, mobulas and dolphins during the boat trip. You will remember all your life this experience, feeling so small regarding this graceful giant.
