A very beautiful dive spot situated along the coast of Taormina (north eastern Sicily) and can only be reached by boat. The dive starts just outside the "Grotta azzurra" cave which is accessed through and underwater tunnel which goes from a depth of approximately 5 to 13 meters. Light enters the cave from this tunnel and from the main opening of the cave creating beautiful blue reflections. After exiting the cave the dive continues along an underwater wall which reaches depths of approximately 35 meters and is covered in colourful corals and bryozoans. A very common sight are big moray eels sticking their heads out from holes in the wall and spiny lobsters are also frequently spotted here. It is possible to either end the dive in the shallow and sheltered bay just after the wall or go back to the cave, swim through the underwater tunnel from which we had previously accessed the cave, do a safety stop at 5 meters and surface directly next to the boat which will be moored here. The dive suits all divers as the wall can be dived at different depths depending on the divers' level of experience.
