Far less touristy than the Pacific Coast, the Caribbean Coast of Costa Rica is slowly making its name well known for its beaches, national parks, diving and laid back atmosphere.
Land in San Jose and hire a car or bus it out to Limon, then you can easily access the surrounding areas such as Puerto Viejo or Punta Uva. The Tortuguero National Park and Cahuita National Park are well worth visiting to see the impressive wildlife on offer such as turtles nesting and many different bird species.
Diving isn't really developed here like on the Pacific Coast but there are still some great options, especially around Isla Uvita for the wreck of the Fenix or the wall off Punta Uva Beach. There are 120 species of fish, or maybe you'll see a turtle, shark or ray.
The best visibility for the Caribbean Coast is from February to April, but the water is warm all year round. Take a chance and see what the Caribbean Coast of costa Rica has to offer you. we're sure you won't be disappointed.
