Chania is a place that some one will choose for diving having several reasons. The smooth variation in depths is suitable for a diving challenge for the new visitors of the underwater world, while all levels of divers will be delighted by the safe and clear waters which are full of life .

The clarity of the Cretan Sea is unique. The turquoise waters give us visibility of 20-50 meters. It is an ideal destination for those who want to be trained in diving , but also for those who want to enjoy the depth .

The sea temperature from June to November is ranged from 21 to 28 degrees of Celsius, which makes it accessible most of the time, and does not reach a temperature lower than 16 degrees during the winter months.

The offer of the dive sites are of particular interest.

In the peninsula of Rodopos we can meet up to 95 % of the marine life of the Mediterranean. The morphology of the seabed is rocky , often creating small reefs, canyons and caves . It is an ideal environment for nudebranches , anemones , groupers , breams , lobsters , octopuses , Salps and the big pelagic fishes throughout the year . In September, with the arrival of the squids, we can experience all the intensity of the marine fauna of the Mediterranean.
Sponges , large tracts of seagrass , red corals are some of the plant species which fill the palette of marine life with wonderful colors.

The Elephant Cave , a unique diving attraction is hosting for centuries the bones of the elephant chaniensis. The wonderful environment with the stalagmites will delight even the most demanding divers.

In the bay Menies , the ancient city Diktinna is towering above and below the water. The small protected bays of the peninsula of Rodopos offer over 30 different dive sites .

Oceanis Dive Center, is a dive Resort for both new and certified divers. The diving center is located in Kolymbari, in the beautiful bay of Chania, close to a beach with a Blue Flag, which reveals the natural beauty and tranquility of the Cretan Archipelagos, the magnificent view of the bay of Chania and the Cape Spada. It collaborates with the most hotels in Kolymvari. The diving center offers both to divers and sightseers at the surface, options from a wide variety of courses SSI, PADI and CMAS providing all the necessary audiovisual equipment for training. It is ISO certified by Bureau Veritas. In addition, there are daily recreational divings by boat or from the shore. We also provide all the necessary equipment for rent or purchase. Oceanis Dive Center is one of the unique diving centers in Chania being so close to the sea and the boat, with easy access to both by experienced and beginners divers. From our diving center we can be on the beach or the dive boat in one minute, for a dive trip to the amazing marine life of the waters of Crete. The diving center is in Kolymvari and 22 km west of Chania. The diving center is open all year, seven days a week, in one of the most beautiful beaches of the coastline of Chania. The dive sites are protected from changes of the weather, have stunning scenery and rich and varied marine life.
