Cocos Island Expedition
Cocos Island, Costa Rica
Turtle Island Restoration Network, in partnership with dive vessel Undersea Hunter, is offering a live aboard dive expedition to Cocos Island Costa Rica February 11-21, 2015. Our expedition not only gives divers the opportunity to swim with myriad marine wildlife such as sea turtles, eagle rays, and several shark species, but allows them to participate in hands-on scientific research by tagging sharks and turtles with acoustic telemetry. The goal of the research is to better understand the migratory movements of the different species, and to collect the necessary data to advocate for a marine protected swimway. As a volunteer research assistant your trip costs may be tax-deductible. Our trip is led by Executive Director of Turtle Island Restoration Network, Todd Steiner, and Director of PRETOMA in Costa Rica, Randall Arauz. Join this once in a lifetime opportunity all while supporting important conservation efforts!
