Many years ago, back around 1985-95 we made many trips to the airplane wreck behind what was then La Ceiba hotel. We took beginning divers there for the first open water check dive. Back then the plane was largely intact. I understand it was broken up by a hurricane in 1995? It was a great spot for new divers as it was not as intimidating as dropping off a boat in 60 feet of water.
