Diving in Negros
Negros Island is considered the fourth largest island in the Philippines. It has some of the most beautiful diving places in the Philippines. Its white sand beaches are the gate to very popular dive sites. The famous Apo Island in the southeast is a haven for scuba-diving.
Negros Island is divided into two provinces Negros Oriental and Negros Occidental. Its dive sites are home to more than 400 coral species and 700 fish species. You can see lots of fish life during day dives like butterfly fish, damsels, anthiases and wrasses thresher sharks. Anemones, decorators, and hermit crabs can be spotted during night dives. Most dive sites are at range from 16 to 98 feet (5 to 30 meters) deep.
Diving in Apo Island, a small volcanic island, 7km off the southeastern tip of Negros Island is only 30 minutes away. You can dive on walls from 16 to 82 (5 to 25 meters) and deeper, or drift diving in strong current with variety of marine life. Apo Island is a marine sanctuary and home to many kinds of underwater creatures that consider the coral reef surrounding the island their home. You may spot turtles and loads of large jacks as well as plenty of clownfish. Underwater photographers will have the opportunity to get some great shots here. There are blue-finned lionfish, dragonets, and several species of octopus as well as bobtail squid, snake eels, ghost pipefishes, cockatoo waspfish and sea horses.
Travel to Negros
Discover nature at its freshest in the province that promises the charming surprise of a lush countryside, a fascinating highland adventure, breathtaking caves, magnificent lakes, scenic beaches, world-class marine reserves, alluring dive sites, and even playful dolphins and whales.
An exhilirating journey awaits at the internationally acclaimed Apo Island diving area, also home to the Balwarte Rocks and Negros Marine Conservation Park, all of which are consistent crowd drawers. View playful dolphins and pygmy sperm whales out in Tañon Strait at Bais Bay. Commune with birds and other wildlife at the 400-hectare protected mangrove forest that is the Bird Sanctuary and Mangrove Park. And do stop by to admire Canlaon Volcano, one of the tallest peaks in the Visayas.
Negros offers you the opportunity to commune with nature, undisturbed. The heavens have blessed this province with more than its fair share of nature’s bounty, with a bonus to boot – the warmth and the inherent charm of the Oriental Negrense.
