Diving in Rasdhoo Atoll

Rasdhoo Atoll is one of the small atolls of the Maldives. It is located about 8 km northeast of Ari Atoll . Rasdhoo Atoll is a popular diving destination.

There are two sunk ships, which belong among the diving attractions. The most interesting sites include a reeef formation Kuramathi House Reef, which is accessible from the coast. At the depth of 30 m is located a wreckage of a cargo ship. Then there is the desired diving location Rasdhoo-Madivaru. This is an outer reef dropping to depths of up to 200 m with perfectly clean water. There are also caves full of black corals. Rasdhoo Atoll is also known for early morning diving when a big quantity of sea fish and other water animals, such as hammerhead shars, appear.

Rasdhu Atoll also known as Rasdhukuramathi Atoll, is a small atoll with an almost round lagoon. It is located almost 8 km from the NE point of Ari Atoll.

The northern and western sides are one continuous barrier reef, and the eastern side is another. The 7 km wide lagoon has soundings from 15 to 20 fathoms (27 ot 37 m) and abounds in detached coral patches.
