The city of Medellin is Colombia's second largest city, and some international travelers say that it is one of the most beautiful cities in all South America. There are a lot of activities to do and a lot of things to see in this wonderful and vibrant city. The city is known for being one of the main cultural centers of Colombia. Medellin is distinguished for an extensive academic and scientific activity, which has earned recognition as a university city. As a result there are some of the most important Colombian universities settled down here. The metropolitan area of Medellín is located within the Aburrá Valley at an elevation of 1,538 meters and is crossed by the Medellin River.

Since the city is located at 5,000 ft above sea level, its climate is not as hot as other cities located at the same latitude near the equator.

The visitor can not miss going to Cerro Nutibara. It is one of the seven hills where you can see a lot of Medellin city. Another place to go is the pedestrian walkway Carabobo, where you can find components of heritage value, architectural and urban, in addition a large variety of crafts trade. You can also stop by Antioquia, square Botero and Botanical Garden Joaquin Antonio Uribe in the north. If you love extreme sports, around Medellin you can find spectacular places to practice them.

There is some dive centers in the city, where you can do diving courses. These courses are designed so you can take the course in Medellin instead of investing part of the time of your holidays carrying out the first two phases of the open water course: the theory and the practice in the pool. Then you can do the open water dives in your holiday destination.
