Reef
Sponge Garden is a divesite in the area of Koh Rong Saloem. Koh Rong Saloem is located 1.5-2 hours away from Sihanoukville, and south of Koh Kron. It's a much bigger island that has 3 major beaches and several other minor ones. It is a habited island, but it remains very little visited and provides perfect secluded beaches and exclusive diving.
This site is named after the many large barrel sponges which are in abundance along the reef here. Inside them, you can find scorpionfish, lionfish and many shrimp and crabs. The reef drops from the shoreline to around 10m closer to the beach and extends to 17m further out. You will find cobia here as well as barracuda. The schools of yellow goatfish and parrotfish are often so thick that a wall of them seems to block off the view of the brightly coloured reef.
